What's wrong with google's search algorithm ?

I have a web page for my grand father at:
http://www.sharma-home.net/people/arun/kpbhat/
Today, I got an email from someone who searched for “Sringeri” in google image search and found it very relevant and interesting. He was wondering why it was not more accessible via search engines.
Google has crawled this many times and the fact that the images embedded in the page hit in their database is enough to demonstrate that they know about this page.
However, searching for “K. Purushottam Bhat” doesn't find the only relevant page on the topic on the web. Yahoo does just fine:
