Simple Rangoli craft for kids
I organized a Diwali activity in my son’s first grade class. Kids drew and colored Rangoli on a paper plate. I asked the kids to clean up their room and hang Rangoli plate on the door knob. Kids had lot of fun!
What you need:
A paper plate
Pencil
Crayons
Hole puncher
A small piece of Yarn to tie a loop
I put the dots on the plate and numbered them according to design. Here is my design. I kept it simple.

Kids connected dots from 1 – 16. Then they connected all even numbers to the center. This was the only tricky part for first graders! Tell them not to leave any gaps on rangoli or else evil spirits will enter! You can now see the pattern. Next step is to color.

I asked kids to pick 5 colors and color with pattern in mind. Here is how it looked after coloring.

Halloween Craft : Ghost Garland
I need to pull Chirag out of his Ben10 and super hero obsession. I thought I will get him to do this simple Halloween craft which I saw on AlphaMom blog. It took about 10 min.
STEP 1 : Take a long piece of paper (I chose green which I had got with a mail order). Make several folds.

STEP 2: Draw Template. Then cut it out.

Do you want a typhoid vaccine for your kid?
Some data:
- Estimated risk for travellers to India 0.41%
- Estimated effectiveness of the vaccine 60-70%
- Vaccines don’t protect against paratyphoid
- Vaccine is effective only 2 weeks after taking
- Booster shots needed every 2 years
I’m thinking that protecting against mosquitos is a lot more important this time around. Next comes water and food safety.
What do you think? A vaccine is worth it?
Savita Auntie
I have been going to Savita auntie’s house since march ‘05. She took very good care of me. My friends there are Isha, Ishika, Tanvi, Arnav and Srijith. I took a long time to make friends there, well..that’s my nature. Now I really like her and all my friends there. But tomorrow is my last day at Savita auntie’s place. After that I am going to a big school. Mom said I will have new friends and new toys.

Narayani Bhat (circa 1910 – 2004)
My grandma recently passed away. She was approximately 94 years old, and my only grand parent alive, when I was born.

My first tooth
Hey! The tooth fairy seems to have blessed me with my first tooth, to make my gummy smile have some teeth. But I'm not ready to show it to the rest of the world just yet. Photography prohibited.
