Starving on EK225 Dubai/San Francisco? (DXB-SFO)

I heard this from at least two Indian senior families who flew this otherwise convenient, well advertized flight on an airline with high ratings. It’s a 16 hour flight and they feed you just after take off and just before landing. The other 14 hours, passengers are starving. If you’re a diabetic, may god help you.

While the other gizmos are good, the air hostesses are known to be less friendly (none of them look Arab or like being from Emirates) compared to Asian airlines such as Cathay or Singapore.

There is food served in the middle of the EK225 flight, but it’s not on a meal tray (with the coffee cup and casserole and all that). In economy class, it’s sandwiches (two choices, vegetarian and something else, usually hot) and fruit (a basket of apples, bananas, plums, pears..) and sweets (a basket of Snickers and Mars and granola bars and things). It’s delivered in the cabin, and you pick-and-choose, mix-and-match. If you’re sleeping, though, they don’t shake you awake to ask you if you want a banana. If you wake up and find you’ve missed it, just ask for it – there will be food remaining for a few hours after it goes through the cabin.
